Jomo Cosmos
The Jomo Cosmos were a professional football club based in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa. Established in 1969 as Wits University Football Club, the team was later renamed to Jomo Cosmos in 1978 in honor of former President of the African National Congress and key figure in the fight against apartheid, Oliver Tambo.
History
The club's early years were marked by modest success, with a few regional championships under their belt. However, it wasn't until the late 1970s that Jomo Cosmos started to make a name for themselves on the national stage.
